Johnnie Walker – New Perspectives  

How to stand out in the crowded world of premium whisky. We wanted to give whisky enthusiasts a reason to look our way afresh.

Our thinking was to change perspectives about how you taste, viscerally using all your senses – not just your tongue. This insight came from speaking with Johnnie Walker’s official Master Blender, Jim Beverage (real name), who has the neurological condition synesthesia and literally ‘sees’ flavour through abstract visual metaphors, colours and seasons, in a beautifully sensorial way.

The creative approach was to bring the team of JW blenders’ individual descriptions of contrasting whisky flavours to life using a rich palette of blended imagery in a series of social films, and partnering with multimedia artists to influence brand touchpoints.
